July 30 – Why So Hard?

It is difficult, but only difficult. Nothing by My hand brings impossibility. With each step there is both good and the trying. The plan of the Father strains both the righteous for growth, and the evil for destruction. Blessing as well falls to men in a way in which they do not understand. As the surgeon cuts carefully to bring healing, there is still first his damage. The scar is the symbol later of good work, but the value is not seen in the moment of pain. So too with the child who is given life within its mother, and in pain she receives what is far greater than the pain. The Father does not turn away from the pain of His people, as His Spirit bears witness to the pains of all those faithful. Deeply many give, even beyond their own life, but those they love as well. For the walk of some bring thoughts unbearable, but there is great rejoicing as the difficult call finds its end in My Kingdom. To understand is as the fish to the fisherman, or the seed of the grape to the wine of the vineyard. Faith sufficient is given to all, that they may carry the cross of their difficulty. He who must carry more, receives more, but only as the Father wills. For many are the chalices of the faithful, some great and others small, and in this passing time they must drink from them, that many will see the Son, and the Lamb’s book might be filled. Have faith through suffering. Even to death do the faithful travel, but never alone. Persevere with faith, and the reward of that faithfulness will be great.

James 1:2-4 (ESV) – Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Bottom Line: Sometimes our difficulties are a mystery, from the coworker who does not like us, to the layoff, to the permanent loss of our abilities due to age. We wonder why it has to be so hard. We can look around the world and see suffering that is unbearable to contemplate, and by comparison we may feel very weak. If we look hard, there is much good to be seen – “Yes”.  Much to be thankful for – “Yes”, but we don’t understand why so many must suffer. Sometimes we are part of it. Teach us to have faith Lord. In our trials, small and large. Please help us to be unwavering and strong. We can’t see your big picture Father, and your Word says it won’t be easy for those who follow. Help us to remember that in the end it is good, because you are good. Make us steadfast. Amen.
